SHAWL4P (Shawl for Palestine) was a non-profit project in collaboration with Rise4PalestineMY, a group of volunteers who were raising funds to donate for the cause of Palestinian children's shelter and education which Global Peace Mission Malaysia was running for. At the time, Rise4Palestine MY encouraged businesses to join in their efforts with some of their own volunteers making charity sales. Hence, Nur Jauhar also felt the calling to do the same.
Right from the start, we aimed to offer a beautiful shawl for sale, incorporated with Palestinian and Malaysian elements as a symbol of our solidarity with the Land of the Prophets. To realise this goal, a design was born with four colour options; Silver Lining, Blooming Time, Green Heart, and Break of Dawn.
Silver Lining
Blooming Time
Green Heart
Break of Dawn
The design proudly displayed the Palestinian flag, Al-Aqsa mosque landscape, the Palestinian Keffiyeh, and Malaysian national flower (Hibiscus) and Palestinian national flower (Iris) on both ends to signify the support that Malaysia has for Palestine. With only 100 units produced, the shawls were made from of premium satin with matte finish and was priced at RM73 per piece.
With the biggest thanks to our volunteers (photographer, creative director, models), the marketing and promotion of SHAWL4P went off without a hitch. SHAWL4P was launched at 16th July 2021 and we managed to close all sales of the products by mid August 2021, collecting RM7,300 from the sales alone as all proceeds were to go to Global Peace Mission for the cause.
As at 13th August 2021, a total of RM10,000 was donated to Global Peace Mission for the cause of rebuilding shelter and education for the Palestinian children. From the amount of total sales, some of our customers also sent along additional donations on top of their purchase. The amount was also rounded off by donations made by Nur Jauhar ourselves.
We would like to thank everyone who purchased the shawl and made donations.
Special thanks and the ultimate gratitude to the team that has made this project possible.
